The COE women rose to the NBL1 East Grand final after a 63 – 74 victory over the Norths Bears in the provisional final. Now that only one victory removed from claiming the NBL1 East Championship, the COE will stand their toughest challenge for the top of the table Manly Warringah Sea Eagles. The Sea Eagles defeated De Coe in both meetings during the regular season with a 15-point victory in round one, followed by a four-point victory in round 15.

Despite a restless record against the Sea Eagles, the COE is ready for Saturday’s ultimate decision maker who quickly reversed their momentum. De Coe has demanded three consecutive victories in the final on their march to Glorie, including a 30-point victory over the Canberra Nationals (74-44), a two-point victory over the Albury-Wodonga Bandits (73-75) and most recently an 11-pointed victory over the North Bears).

In the provisional final, the COE had four players in double digits to make the Norths horses up. Zara Russell led the scoring and added 18 points, six rebounds and three assists. Sitaya Fagan filled the Statblad with an all -round display with 16 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks. Isabel Smith also stuck with 16 points, six rebounds and three assists. Queenslander Olivia Olechnowicz was also important and offered 10 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals.
