Murray’s next chapter could see him chasing birdies instead of break points.
Speaking “The Romesh Ranganathan Show”Murray revealed that he is considering starting out as a “golf caddy, hopefully [for] a professional golfer at one point.”
Murray, who retired from tennis after the 2024 Paris Olympics, has been a golf fan since childhood and often plays during breaks from tennis.
But this time it seems his interest goes beyond a hobby.
“Well, I like golf, and I think if you love that sport it would be a great job.
“If you could work with a top golfer and be there when they have a great moment on the course, and feel like you can help a little bit with decisions or things like that, then I think it would be a brilliant job.”
Since ending his playing career last year, Murray has competed as a player in a number of celebrity professional golf events. His desire to improve his handicap has led to him spending hours on the track every week.
Former world number one Murray won three Grand Slam tournaments, including twice on home turf at Wimbledon, claimed the ATP Tour Finals and led Great Britain to the Davis Cup title.
“Sir Andy” won gold in men’s singles at the Rio 2016 and London 2012 Games, and a silver medal in mixed doubles at his home Olympics, partnering Laura Robson for Team GB.
With golf also scheduled for the Olympic Games in LA28, could we see Murray back at the Games in a very different capacity, with a bag in his hand?
