Figure Skating – Skate America 2025: Madison Chock and Evan Bates earn record-breaking fifth win at home Grand Prix

Madison Chock and Evan Bates claimed a record-breaking fifth title Skate America 2025 Sunday afternoon (November 16) in Lake Placid, New York.

The three-time and reigning world champion won the ice dance in front of an enthusiastic home crowd, scoring a score of 212.58 to earn a commanding lead of 15 points. Zoe and Zacharary. from Canada, who came second with 197.16.

Chock/Bates contribute to their victory over Cup of China three weeks ago, securing their spot for next month Grand Prix Final in Nagoya, Japan, where the top six teams in each discipline qualify.

The American duo first won Skate America in 2014 and added titles in 2015, 2022 and 2023. Their victory on Sunday was a ninth Grand Prix gold overall.

France Yevgeniia Lopareva and Geoffrey Brissaud came third at 192.61.

Chock/Bates join fellow Americans Tanith Belbin and Ben Augusto as a five-time Skate America champion.

“Every opportunity we have to compete gives us new insights and new ways of looking at things and something to take away,” Chock told US broadcaster NBC. ‘This is certainly no different [here]. We are going to take away the good and happy feelings that we get from this experience.”

Bates added, “We can make a lot of improvements in both programs. We think this free dance in particular has a lot of potential to become a powerful Olympic free dance.”
