Novak Djokovic was far from his best at the US Open on Wednesday, but he held his perfect second round record in New York to reach the third round for the 19th time.
Djokovic conquered the student ten on Sunday in his first game since his semi-final of Wimbledon, but struggled with his footwork and balance in his meadows opener rinse. Three days later and the 38-year-old could not find his A-Game for great periods against the American qualifying Zachary Svajda, but did enough to seal a 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-3, 6-1 victory.
Djokovic committed 14 casual mistakes in a first set of low quality and was then 1-3 at the back of the third set. The 38-year-old, however, managed to increase his intensity and benefited from a physical drop-off from Svajda, which, under the first delivery, served under the third and fourth sets below 90 km / h due to a leg problem.
“Not so great to be honest,” said Djokovic when he was asked about his tennis. “I was not really happy with my tennis in the first part of the game, but also the honor of Zach to play a number of really high -quality tennis. It was a shame that he was struggling with injury by the end of the second, but a plume for him for staying on the field. He clearly couldn’t serve as well as he did for the first set and half half, but I wish him the best.”

Djokovic admitted that he was surprised how bad he felt during his first round victory against ten and there were many shaky moments during his two -hour, 35 minutes of collision against Svajda.
