As we enter 2026, Bruno Guimaraes has spoken to the media in Brazil.
The Newcastle United captain talks specifically about his goals.
Halfway through this 2025/26 Premier League season, Bruno Guimaraes has already scored six PL goals, just one shy of his best ever PL total in 2023/24.
It’s not all about scoring goals though, as the United talisman creates them too: four assists in all competitions so far.
With ten direct goals in 2026, he has his all-time Newcastle United record to aim for: sixteen direct goals in 2023/24 in all competitions, when he got nine assists and seven goals.
But as always with Bruno Guimaraes, it’s all about the team, with personal glory not what motivates him.
Bruno Guimaraes in conversation Globo Esporte:
“It has been a spectacular season [with Newcastle United] for me so far, individually.
“I have managed to maintain the team spirit and commitment, but at the moment I am also doing my part [directly] to goals.
“What I do on the pitch will not define me, but it is certainly an improvement in my game and a step forward.
“It’s about keeping this momentum going for the rest of the season and making sure these numbers help the team achieve its goals.
“I am a player who always tries to be available and gives everything in every match.
“These numbers are the result of that dedication, not only in my daily routine, but also in games.
“We have a work ethic and philosophy that prioritizes the team over individual performance and that is what we need to focus on.
“I will continue to do my best and the good grades are the result of dedication and teamwork.”
Arriving midway through the 2021/2022 season, Bruno Guimaraes had six direct goals (five scored, one assist) in all competitions.
In 2022/23 it was nine DG involvements (four scored, five assists), 2023/24 it was sixteen (scored seven, nine assists), then 2024/25 it was twelve (scored five, seven assists).
I have a feeling that Bruno Guimaraes will well exceed sixteen DG interactions for Newcastle United in the 2023/2024 season.
