Beneil Dariush is overweight and fined ahead of UFC 322 clash with Benoit Saint-Denis

Beneil Dariush loses 20% of his wallet UFC 322, after the lightweight contender lost 1.2 pounds on Friday.

Dariush, scheduled to face Benoit Saint-Denis as part of Saturday’s lineup in New York, stepped on the scale and weighed in at 157.2 pounds for his non-title match against the “God of War.”

The fight will go ahead as planned, with Dariush handing over a portion of his earnings to Saint-Denis. This is only the second time Dariush has missed weight under the UFC banner, the first coming in 2020.

Dariush was the only one of the 24 fighters to miss the mark at Friday’s weigh-ins. Elsewhere, Islam Makhachev weighed in at 170 points for his highly anticipated title fight with defending champion Jack Della Maddalena.

Also in attendance was Valentina Shevchenko, who put her flyweight gold on the line against two-time strawweight queen Zhang Weili.
