Important events
9th about: South Africa 51-2 (De Zorzi 23, Breetzke 20) Bartlett is immediately back in the fight, now from the end Hazlewood was operating, and the two-part pitch problems Breetzke van de Vouw. Not so the Zorzi that absolutely marches a line drive that leaves four for four, almost bowler and referee eliminating as Tenpins en route. That was a brutal smear of a hit.
8th about: South Africa 45-2 (De Zorzi 18, Breetzke 19) Hardie replaces Bartlett, which Breetzke is sticking with a few deliveries full and straight, then the South Africa sprints out of its fold and loft a huge ride back right back the head of the bowler that connects just behind the rope and rolls for a four. He is going to come again the next ball, this time earlier through his wallop and drag a six over square leg! And again! What the hell was that? Line and length of Hardie So Breetzke lifts his front leg and waves up an effortlessly timed flick and again for six more.
It seems that the Whiteboard of South Africa had underlined ‘Target Hardie’ double.
7th about: South Africa 29-2 (De Zorzi 18, Breetzke 3) Hazlewood celebrates the right -handed Breetzke, but the storage length of the Aussie Quick is probably a fraction too short for this pitch with the extra bounce that he generates. Hazlewood is such a class act that he recognizes this, pushes his length up and pulls Breetzke into a terrible shot that runs through the empty lids when it could easily have gone to hand.
6th about: South Africa 26-2 (De Zorzi 17, Breetzke 1) Bartlett has 2/10 of three overs and a ridiculous ODI average of 4.80. He did not do much today to earn his success, but he will undoubtedly have days when he lost beautifully and cannot buy a dismissal.
Wicket! Rickleton C Inglis B Bartlett 8 (South Africa 23-2)
Bartlett keeps getting away with the occasional bad ball, which suggests that off-pace deliveries are most successful this afternoon. The Zorzi knew a flourishing ride to a wide half volley, and then a border ball is perfectly stopped by Nathan Ellis with extra coverage. South Africa jogs a single anyway, but can regret the run because Rickleton is the next ball and a border behind the wicket drives to a stock that leaves him. Excellent loving INGLIS, with fast footwork to go sharply to the left and first slide out of the comparison.
Bartlett has two early. The proteas are in a pickle.
5th about: South Africa 21-1 (Rickelton 7, De Zorzi 14) Another nice blow to the Zorzi, this time only three worth, played the ball away from the fold, driving at the top of the bumper. Hazlewood records it personally and tears a change in exchanges through the attempt to attempt to attempt to problem by South Africa. But after returning to his storage length, the Zorzi repeats the trick-alleen with even better timing that sends a beautiful fresh hind foot drive to the point limit.
4th about: South Africa 12-1 (Rickelton 6, De Zorzi 6) Bartlett keeps bowling dots, even with wide half-volleys, while rickleton is struggling for timing. There is a clear wear in this pitch, but it probably plays slower than South Africa is currently expected at the moment. Maybe it will accelerate as the day progresses? As if the point wants to prove that Rickleton almost drives a fuller delivery directly to show the outer half of his knife. The Zorzi then shows him how to do it, capture himself on a vast drive, touch the line and limit the opening limit of the innings to the center of the waist.
3rd about: South Africa 7-1 (Rickelton 5, De Zorzi 2) To the surprise of nobody, Hazlewood largely hits the ball to a good length. When he tries to pitch it fuller, he wires on the pads of Rickleton and the left -handed benefits from a Carey Misfield to walk three. The Zorzi then opens his account with a few behind square of his hip.
2nd about: South Africa 2-1 (Rickelton 2, De Zorzi 0) A second slip comes in for the new batter, the Zorzi, and they are both very happy when the number three plays and misses at his opening delivery. Excellent start for Bartlett who starts with a Wicket girl.
Wicket! Markram C Head B Bartlett 0 (South Africa 2-1)
Xavier Bartlett shares new ballt tasks and he settles in a neat and neat line and length to Markram, which wobbles the ball from the right -handed from close to the stumps. Then he slides into a ranking on the pads of the South African skipper, which he immediately cuts to Travis Head at Midwicket. A gift from a wicket and a dream start for Australia.
1st about: South Africa 2-0 (Rickelton 2, Markram 0) Josh Hazlewood takes the new ball and admits that they present runs of his second delivery with the left -handed rickleton that presents the full face of the bat and collects a handsome two. The sequel has a nice bouncing and wears outside the off stump from over the wicket, which suggests that there is something in this straw -colored deck for the pacemen. That position will later be strengthened a few deliveries when Hazlewood pulls Rickleton forward and beats the battle with more encouraging blow to the keeper.
From March the two parties in the Great Barrier Reef Arena. Australia is from top to toe in canary yellow with green accents, South Africa beautiful in forest green with golden pipes.
Mackay is located on the border of Central and North -Queensland, which means that if the winter melts in the spring, the weather is glorious. It is a flawless afternoon with blue skies and a proud sun overhead that leads to temperatures in the early 1920s, the heat that is kept under control by a breeze of the coral sea. It is a full house, so hopefully they will be treated to more than two deliveries.
South Africa XI
1 Aiden Markram (C), 2 Ryan Rickelton (WK), 3 Tony de Zorzi, 4 Matthew Breetzke, 6 Tristan Stubbs, 6 Dewald Brevis, 7 Wian Mulder, 8 Senuran Muthusamy, 9 Keshav Maharaj, 10 Nandre Burgi, 11 Lungi 11 Lungi
In the current game, the Proteas will go without Captain Temba Bavuma, which is equipped as part of his workload management with regard to his restoration of the hamstring tribe that he sustained in June during the WTC final. Tony de Zorzi comes to number three, while Aiden Markram will get up as a captain. Elsewhere, Senuran Muthusamy comes in for Prenelan Subrayen.
Bavuma will be available to lead the side in the third ODI on Sunday if necessary.
Australia XI
1 Mitchell Marsh (C), 2 Travis Head, 3 Marnus Labuschagne, 4 Cameron Green, 5 Josh Inglis (WK), 6 Alex Carey, 7 Aaron Hardie, 8 Xavier Bartlett, 9 Nathan Ellis, 10 Adam Zampa, 11 Josh Hazlewood
One change for the hosts in which Xavier Bartlett Ben Dwarshuis replaces. Mitch Marsh assures us that he would break the custom of your life and Bat first if he had won the pitch.
South Africa wins the throw and will hit first
They hardly had to go through that formality, since Mitch Marsh has won the pitch 21 times as a captain over T20Is and ODIs and every occasion bowed.
Preamble
Jonathan Howcroftt
Good afternoon everyone and welcome to live the top of the point of late-winter sport, The nail biting race for the Afl & NRL final The second of a bilateral ODI series of three games between Australia and South Africa. Playing starts at 2.30 pm in Balmy Mackay.
This is as off-broadway as international crickets for men on Australian soil. The coverage is only available on Pay TV, Host City Mackay has a population of just over 100,000, and the beautifully mentioned Great Barrier Reef Arena is suitable for about ten percent of the local community, if they all decided to clock away early on a Friday and enjoy a few sunset.
This is only the second ODI ever at the location. The first lasted only two deliveries before it was washed away, when India met Sri Lanka in the 1992 World Cup.
The home team may not mind that the attention is elsewhere, given the thrashing that they received a few nights ago in Cairns. For the first time ever, Australia was thrown out for less than 200 in their last three home ODIs.
In the top, the top order repeatedly played from the rear foot to Keshav Maharaj on a deck that offered both Grip and Skid on the left arm spinner. The result was inevitable, and not a major indication of the ability of this unity and associated brain trust to adapt to conditions.
That was the sixth defeat of Australia in their last seven ODIs, and another victory for the Proteas Today would achieve a fifth consecutive series of victory over their hosts.
Following his exploits in Cairns, Maharaj appears today as the newly beaten number one Range Bowler in Odis. However, he will not have his spin partner next to him on Tuesday after Prenelan Subrayen was reported for a suspicious bowling action on ODI debut. There will now be an independent assessment of the Subrayen action at an ICC-Accredited test facility to determine whether he should renovate his action. He has confronted three times before with a similar study, in 2012, 2014 and 2016.
I’ll be back soon with De Gooi and Line-Ups. In the meantime, if you have something to get rid of your chest, feel free to mail me at jonathan.howcroft.casual@theguardian.com.
