A trio of East Africans compete in the Dominican Summer League, which has to go for less than two weeks of regular season. They try to follow the management of Ugandan David Matoma, whose success in the DSL last season led to his jump to the US Complex League and a new promotion to Low-A this year. The only representative of South Africa, veteran Reliever Tayler Scott, remains one level away from his return to the major competitions.

Key
Name (age*), organization, landteam.
*Age is from September 1, 2025 (playing age this season).
Rankings of the team perspective: BA (Baseball America): #; FG (Fangraphs): #; MLB (mlb.com): #.
“Nr” does not give ranked (only included for players mentioned in other rankings).

Triple-A (1)
Tayler Scott (33), Houston Astros. South Africa. Sugar land skeeters.
Scott still settles in his bull pen role with the Triple-A team of Houston after the start of the year with the Diamondbacks. During his last six games, he was allowed to go nine points on 13 hits in nine innings, hit seven and runs four. His Minor League era is a maximum of 3.55 for the season.

Low-A (1)
David Matoma (19)Pittsburgh Pirates. Uganda. Bradenton Marauders. Ba: nr; FG: 18; MLB: No.
Matoma is confronted with adversity for the first time in his career and throws at a 5.06 ERA in 32 innings as a 19-year-old in baseball in the entire season. He allowed runs in his last three performances after a few clean onions that had lowered his Era to 4.40. He has allowed a hit per inning, threw 30 and 21. Matoma has a few weeks left in his season, and should have many opportunities to end strong.

Rookie League, Dominican complex competitions (3)
Allen Ajoti (20), Los Angeles Dodgers. Uganda. DSL Lad Bautista.
Ajoti drives on a seven-game stroke streak with three Doubles. He also added a stolen base and gave him three without being caught. In 27 games this season, he hits .214 with nine extra basehits, 24 strikeouts and seven walks, very strong production for a young catcher, let alone one from Uganda.

Joseph Deng Thon (18), Los Angeles Dodgers. South Sudan/Uganda. DSL Lad Mega.
Deng has trouble finding the zone during his short time in the DSL. He thrown in seven games, collected 3.2 innings and allowed only one hit and threw five. Unfortunately, at that time he walked 18 batters, leading to nine points earned. Deng has a 0-3 record with one hold and 22.09 ERA, despite the solo basis specified.

Armstrong in Horizon (18), Pittsburgh Pirates. Uganda. DSL Pirates Gold.
Muhoozi was cold hot-cold during his first season and played in 28 games around a small IL stint for a leg injury. He had a hit of eight games in mid -July, but has since had hits in just two of his eight games. Muhoozi has scored 20 points with seven extra basehits for the DSL season so far, walk seven times and throw in 23 record performances, steal an eye-opening 20 bases in 23 attempts. He hits .258/.340/.360 with two weeks of the season.
