Astros recovery, option JP France

The Astros announced that righthander JP France has recovered from the 60-day wounded list and opted for Triple-a Sugar Land. The schedule of 40 men had a vacancy of Tayler Scott Recommended for an assignment earlier this week, but it is now full. Houston also announced that outfielder Taylor Trammell has been placed on the 10-day IL because of a cervical muscle tension, with Infront Brice Matthews recalled as the corresponding movement.

France, now 30, gave Houston some solid work a few years ago. In 2023 he registered 136 1/3 innings with a 3.83 earned run average. Unfortunately he could not transfer it in 2024. He placed an ERA of 7.46 in five starts before he needed a shoulder operation.

He came back on the hill a month ago and started a rehabilitation assignment on July 21. He made five Rehab performances and registered 13 innings with an ERA of 8.31. That is clearly not a good number, but teams usually focus more on health than results when it comes to these long fired.

A rehabilitation assignment for a pitcher comes with a maximum of 30 days and France was at the end of that window. Despite all the injuries that Houston has suffered this year, their rotation is currently in a decent place. They have Hunter BrownFramber ValdezCristian JavierSpencer Arrighetti And Jason Alexander Currently take the ball. Lance McCullers Jr. is about to come and jump back in the mix, with Luis Garcia Also approaching a return. That will be pressed in a Triple-A depth bulb, where he can continue to shake the rust.

France has only one option year. If he spends 20 days or more on optional assignment, he will burn that option this year and no longer have any options on his way to 2026. If the Astros want to keep that option, they can remember him for a long hulprol when Rooster expands in September.
