Liverpool have confirmed that the team will travel to Germany for the Champions League match against Eintracht Frankfurt – and there is one notable omission.
Our head coach Arne Slot has opted to rest and rotate key players as the Reds continue a demanding run of three games in just seven days.
Arne Slot about rotation at Liverpool and Gravenberch injury
A 21-man squad made the trip to Germany on Tuesday evening, but Ryan Gravenberch was left behind after spraining his ankle in Sunday’s defeat to Manchester United.
Speak via liverpoolfc.comthe 47-year-old explained: “Yes, I had to take him away this weekend because he was limping a bit, as we could all see. So unfortunately he won’t be ready to play tomorrow.”
The Dutch boss continued: “That already means that I have to change at least one player and now that he is no longer there, that could also mean something for others.”
Gravenberch’s absence follows reports from Physio Scout suggesting a lateral ankle sprain was the likely outcome, with a recovery period of up to four weeks depending on severity.
Our number 38 has been one of the standout players this season and Slot now hopes that the midfielder can recover in time for the trip to Brentford next weekend.
The depth of Liverpool’s squad was tested again in the Champions League

Wataru Endo returns to the squad after missing the United match, while Federico Chiesa is in our Champions League squad – added as a replacement for the injured Giovanni Leoni.
There is also a possible reunion on the cards, with Hugo Ekitike lining up to face his former club and both Jeremy Frimpong and Florian Wirtz returning to Germany for the first time since joining from Bayer Leverkusen.
The match comes just days after a disappointing league defeat, with lock attachment: “We have more than eleven players who can play a game of football for us… and tomorrow we will use a lot of players again.”
It’s the kind of statement that underlines how much confidence our head coach has in the core of the Liverpool team, which will have to show its strength on several fronts this season.
