Manchester United and Tottenham were reportedly among the clubs to have their bids rejected by the player, who instead opted to agree a new deal.
Details of that contract have since emerged, revealing a £65m release clause set to come into effect in January – a factor that could see fierce competition for his services in the new year.
In addition to United and Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal are also said to be seriously interested in the 25-year-old, who has scored six goals and three assists in eleven Premier League matches this season.
Semenyo has not requested a transfer and Bournemouth remain committed to keeping him until the season ends.
The release clause will be reactivated in the summer, but at a lower amount.
Regardless of whether a move takes place in January or later, Semenyo has already spoken about his ambition to join a club that competes in Europe’s elite tournaments.
The London-born striker, who was once on trial for the Gunners in his youth, identifies as a supporter of the Gunners because he has ‘watched them all his life’.
“I’m an Arsenal fan,” he told The Athletic in an October 2024 interview.
‘I don’t bring those two into conflict with my work. It’s great to play against Arsenal, a team I’ve watched all my life and I also want to play for the top clubs. For that to happen, I have to prove it.”
Asked whether joining Arsenal would be a dream come true, he added: ‘Yes, any team that plays Champions League or Europe (League), that is the goal.
“I know this won’t happen with the click of my fingers, it will take some time. Goals will be needed.
“It’s going to take a lot of consistent performance. But that’s what I’ve worked all my life for and I’m just going to keep working hard. That’s my mentality.’
