Alessandra Fanali’s participation in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris marked an important milestone for the entire Italian movement. Her Latina presence continued that journey and demonstrated how golf is now an integral part of the Olympic universe and its language.
The Day of the Flame started in one of the most iconic sites of Italian heritage, the Royal Palace of Caserta. There the sacred flame began its journey, immersed in the monumentality of the Royal Palace and its gardens. An evocative start, enhanced by a horse ride past the Royal Palace, a symbol of history, sport and national identity.
From Campania the journey continued towards Lazio, via Formia and Gaeta, with the sea as the undisputed protagonist. One of the most spectacular moments took place in Gaeta: the Flame reached the cathedral and then continued by sea, on a Lega Navale ship, returning from Molo Sanità.
In the afternoon the relay stopped in Sabaudia, between the Circeo Park and the coast. Here the torch was passed to champions who embody the continuity of the Olympic spirit. Among them were Romano Battisti, Olympic silver medalist in rowing, and then Alessio and Matteo Sartori, father and son, with Alessio a multiple Olympic medalist.
The closing ceremony in Latina brought Italian women’s sport back to the fore. In the last meters of the stage, the Flame was carried by Alessia Mesiano, an Olympic boxer. Then it was Alessandra Fanali’s turn, who ended the day with a gesture with deep meaning. For the Italian golfer, the passage of the Flame provided an ideal bridge between the Olympic Games experienced on the field and the ones to come.
With more than 24 kilometers, more than 110 torchbearers and a succession of unique sets, the 19th stage confirmed the power of a collective story. A story in which golf found space and visibility thanks to Alessandra Fanali on the way to Milan Cortina 2026.
