While praising them, Patrick Mouratoglou wants to see someone who can match their level and create the trio.

Springy feeling.

The Spaniard and the Italian have outpaced everyone in the last two years, winning all eight Major titles and becoming number one in the world rankings. 3 Alexander Zverev looks like a competitor from another league.
Mouratoglou would love to see another player compete for notable titles, as we have done for years when the Big 3 rule our sport like no other before them. Federer, Nadal and Djokovic pushed each other beyond the perceived limits.
They created a competitive ecosystem where each major felt unpredictable, emotionally, and historically charged. It’s true that they only gave away a few titles during their incredible run.
However, we could expect great fights from the semi-finals onwards, which is not the case today. Alcaraz and Sinner reached three consecutive grand finals on three surfaces this season, achieving what no one has done before.
Their consistency and ability to rise in decisive moments has left shadows chasing the rest of the Tour. What is missing is not quality, because we cannot expect anything higher, but contrast.
A third rival capable of disrupting their dominance would transform the current landscape from a duel to an era-defining battle. Greatness flourishes most when champions are forced to share the stage.
Still, this will remain an area of speculation until some of their closest rivals take their game to a much higher, career-changing level. No one is able to do that at the moment, but let’s see what 2026 brings.

Bridging the gap with Carlos and Jannik will require more than flashes of brilliance. It’s about consistency, a fearless mentality and the ability to challenge them on the sport’s biggest stages.
In 2024 and 2025, no one did that. Now the sport waits to see who dares to rise and stand among them. Alcaraz and Sinner are the favorites at the upcoming Australian Open.
The Italian is a two-time defending champion, while the Spaniard is looking for a Career Grand Slam, hoping to achieve it after 22 years.
“I would like to see a third player between Carlos and Jannik because they are too dominant. We were so excited by the trio of Novak, Roger and Rafa, that was incredible.
If we could have the same, that would be fantastic,” said Patrick Mouratoglou.
