Another Sudan

A lot has changed since 1970 and several generations of Sudanese have not experienced anything close to those glory days.

Sudan was once a football power. One of the three founders of the continental showpiece – next to Egypt And Ethiopia – Sudan was a credible candidate at every AFCON they attended.

Between 1957 and 1970 they finished second twice, third once, and won the competition after beating other African heavyweights such as Cameroon, Egypt and Ghana.
