If you spend a lot of your time out of the beaten track, sowing mulch or sowing, chances are that you will not do it in a huge pick -up. You are probably in a side on the side or UTV, that long-suspension four-wheelers with windscreens and beds who are increasingly demanding the “people who actually work”, once outside “market farmers at the Bureau of Land Management. If you are looking to do that kind of work, Can-Am wants to be your choice of your UTV with the Defender HD11 2026. The company has even added an extra cylinder to show you how serious it is.
Since its introduction, the CAN-AM defender formula has largely been unchanged, using a single cylinder or V-twin engine with its power that is sent to all four wheels via a CVT. With the HD11 engine, the first three-cylinder for the model, Can-Am wants to increase the possibility of the new defender by adding that third cylinder to the comparison without changing the relocation so much. The new engine moves 999 CCs, higher than 976 cc in the HD10 V-twin engine, and the torque is almost unchanged between the two with 70 pound-foot for the HD11 versus 69 LB-FT for the HD10. Horse power, however, sees the big difference: the HD11 makes 95 hp to the 82 hp of the HD10. All this makes the defender able to drag 2500 pounds and drag 1500 pound loading capacity.
More cylinder, more pleasure
The defender HD11 still uses a CVT, but Can-Am claims that it is a new unit that matches the new engine. The company says that the goal with the new powertrain was to clean up low speed power episode, which must be slippery over terrain such as mud or loose dirt. That powertrain is held on hidden suspension, whereby Can-Am claims that 50% larger double arms for maximum clearance. The new suspension has 12 centimeters travel at the front and rear, such as the 2025 model, with 15-inch land space an increase of 1 inch compared to last year. This is all stopped by larger brakes with double-sucker calipers, raised to 10.3-inch rotors at the front of the 8.6-inch units of the old model.
Inside, Can-Am claims that the new defender is the smartest so far. It has 10.25 inch touchscreen in the middle of the dashboard, with functions from a backup camera and music to GPS tracking for others next to each other in your area. It will even do navigation if you have the corresponding BRP app on your phone to remove the instructions. Strangely enough, Despite all telephone connectivity, CarPlay does not claim CarPlay on the new screen, although it is available on the identical touchscreen used on the company’s motorcycles.
The CAN-AM defender HD11 promises to be the best UTV of the company so far, but that comes with a price. While the defender of 2026 starts at $ 13,399, the HD11 models start at $ 22,699 and reach up to $ 39,699 for the top specter defender Max Lone Star Cab HD11. Admittedly, the next-step-down HD10 engine cannot be obtained for less than $ 19,599, but the upgrade is still quite a cent. If you are a farmer on a huge, vast farm, it is probably worth it. Otherwise it might be a more difficult sale to upgrade to the newest and best.
