Software-as-a-Services (SaaS) giant Zoho Corp has taken a gamble on the financial Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) market.

Zoho on Friday launched Zoho ERP, a comprehensive ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) solution for Indian companies. The new product will be anchored from Zoho’s new emerging regional hub in Kumbakonam.

Zoho ERP aims to help fast-growing Indian companies scale without the complex architectures or high costs typically associated with legacy ERP platforms. The new ERP brings together the company’s previous, more fragmented offerings into a single, unified platform, making it easier for companies to integrate without having to access multiple touchpoints. It provides a single platform for activities such as financial management, invoicing, inventory, GST compliance and payroll.

The solution was launched at an event in Kumbakonam, with part of the team building Zoho ERP operating from Zoho’s regional office here.

Speak with business line, Sridhar Vembu, co-founder and chief scientist Zoho, said the company plans to transform Kumabakonam into its financial and operational hub while rejuvenating the rural economy, replicating the model it deployed in the southern city of Tenkasi in Tamil Nadu.

He added that the plan is to invest and scale Zoho’s presence in the city in the near future, while expanding its workforce to up to 2,000 people.

Responding to a question about Arattai’s momentum slowing after a big start, Vembu said the messaging app is a long-term project and Zoho is still at a very early stage in this story.

Sivaramakrishnan Iswaran, Global Head of Finance and Operations BU at Zoho and CEO of Zoho Payment Technologies, said Zoho ERP is aimed at high-growth companies with long-term scale ambitions. “We are initially focusing on rolling out the platform across four sectors, including manufacturing, retail, distribution and non-profits, with more verticals to be added post-launch,” he said. Unlike incumbents who serve more of a single purpose, we are positioning Zoho ERP as a broader system that encompasses a broader set of functions, he noted.

Iswaran also said the product will support easier deployment and customization without third-party dependencies, reducing costs and complexity.

“Zoho ERP was developed with the support of talent from Kumbakonam, and future growth will also be driven from here. We are investing in infrastructure building and upskilling initiatives. By creating opportunities for local youth, we are helping to reverse talent drain, strengthen the regional economy and further our nation-building efforts,” said Shailesh Davey, CEO of Zoho Corp, in a statement.
