The Pelicans in New Orleans have been waiting in the last six years to see the version of Zion Williamson they thought they got when they won the designer 2019. The hype around the Duke star was astronomical, but that has not always been the case in the NBA, because he had trouble staying healthy.
Williamson comes from a season in which he only played 30 games, on average 24.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 1.2 steals per match, with 57/23/66 shooting splits. If he is healthy, he is easy to one of the best players in the competition, but he cannot stay on the floor.
He only played 24 games like a Rookie, 61 in his second season, he missed the entire season 2021-22, played 29 games in 2022-23, 70 in 2023-24 and 30 in 2024-25.
It is difficult to build a winning team when your best player spends more time outside the field than on it. The Pelicans did not pass the first round of the play -offs with Zion and miss the play -offs completely four times since they put it on. Zion is not a complete debt for that, but there have been things in his control that he has neglected, such as his diet.
