Yves Bissouma is finally leaving Spurs this summer

Yves Bissouma looks set to leave Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the 2025/26 season when his contract expires, making a free transfer possible. The 29-year-old Ivorian midfielder has fallen out of favor under Thomas Frank, who has criticized his unprofessional behavior, including repeated lateness to training and inconsistent performances.

This led to Bissouma being left out of key squads such as the UEFA Super Cup and early Champions League matches, and he is currently sidelined with an ankle injury that is expected to keep him out until early 2026.

Transfer interest has picked up again

The sun now comes the news that the former Spurs fans favorite could be absent next summer due to continued interest from top clubs in Turkey.

The most concrete link is that of Turkish champions Galatasaray, who have been in contact with Bissouma’s camp since a failed 2025 summer deal and are now pushing for a pre-contract agreement ahead of his free departure next summer.

They are willing to offer a three-year contract and see him as an important asset to their midfield. Recent reports from The Sun specifically mention talks with Galatasaray, with the move considered low risk given his contract status. Previous Turkish interest from Fenerbahçe (linked to José Mourinho) disappeared in September 2025.

Despite the speculation, sources close to the player indicate that he “wants to play for Spurs again” and that his priority is to extend his stay at Tottenham – although this seems unlikely given the cold weather with Frank and his current exclusion.

Our view

Bissoumas was one of the ‘must-watch’ players at Brighton and Hove Albion, but at Spurs he seriously failed to make that crucial leap and cement his reputation by becoming a top side’s must-pick player.

Instead, negative stories appeared in the press about his lack of discipline off the fieldincluding a wild story about inhaling laughing gas during a performance in London. Plus, we had to make video clips of the player acting like a raver after wins.
