Form man Yuvraj Sandhu fired a stunning 10 under Par 61, his best score in two years, to be led by three strokes after 54 holes of the PGTI Players Championship in Clover Greens near Hosur on Thursday.

The 28-year-old from Chandigarh, the current PGTI order of merit leader, who is 18 holes away from his fourth title of the season and the second in two weeks, was 22 under 191, said the PGTI.

Pune Olympian Udayan Mane (67-65-62), bound behind the night for the second night, on Thursday a 9 under 62 to go to Sole Second on 19 under 194.

Kshitij van Delhi Naveed Kaul (68-67-64) moved in one place to third place at 14 under 199.

Teenage Amateur Veer Ganapathy from Bangalore returned a 63 to share the sixth position on 11under 202.

Sandhu (63-67-61), who wants to become Wire-to-Wire champion for the second week in a row, extended his overnight two-shot lead with a Tournament Low of 61 that was interrupted by five Birdies on either side of the bend.

Bogey-free

Sandhu’s clear round contained two discs that found the Greens on par-4 holes, two 12-foot conversions, two nine-in nine iron approach shots and a few quality up and downs.

“It was about continuing the momentum of the previous rounds,” Sandhu said later.

“I finally broke nine after almost two years, so that is a big personal achievement for me because it was something I wanted to do.

“The game is trending in a good way, I feel at ease while I’m on the ball and I am quite confident about it.

“I have worked a lot to assemble my driver with my coach Gurbaaz Mann during the low season. That seems to be paying because my rice form has also been great.

“Would like to be registered on the PGTI after three weeks before he goes to the Asian tour next week.”

Mane’s 62 was emphasized by a 16-foot eagle conversion on the 12one Together with seven other birdies.

The 34-year-old, looking for his first victory in four years, also dropped a 40-foot-in-law out of 17one and drove the par-4 15one Green to set up birdies.
