Yoane Wissa has issued a public statement on social media and begs Brentford to have him joined at Newcastle United as promised.
Sunday’s Breeknieuws comes on the eve of the deadline of the transfer star.
Yoane Wissa in his long statement (see below), which states that it was even written by Brentford that the striker could leave this summer if a reasonable offer was made.
Newcastle United made two offers, the first for £ 25 million and then increased to an offer from a £ 40 million deal, only for Brentford to reject both.
Yoane Wissa turns 29 in three days, whether he gets his early birthday wish to become a member of Newcastle United remains very balanced.
Yoane Wissa Public Statement via his personal social media – August 31, 2025:
“In recent weeks there has been an increased speculation about my future at Brentford Football Club.
“As a result, I wanted to speak directly and honestly about exactly where things stand.
“I have stopped for a large part of the summer, but with only hours of the transfer window I feel forced to make me leave Brentford.
“I believe that the club stands in my way unnecessarily despite a series of honest offers during the summer.
“I have always given 100 percent for Brentford since the day I had signed in 2021. I am proud of what we built together and I have never seized the opportunity to play for the club for the club.
“Brentford fans will always have a special place in my heart. And I have always worn myself professionally, both on and outside the field. It was a privilege to wear this shirt for 149 competitions and 49 goals.
“Earlier this summer I held open discussions with the senior management of the club, including important directors and the new head coach. I made my intention clear to explore a new challenge.
“During these conversations, I and my representatives were confirmed that the club would not stand in my way if a reasonable offer was received. This was also placed in writing.
“Based on this concept, I wanted to find a new club, while I kept Brentford fully informed with full transparency at every step.
“Brentford received a formal offer from another Premier League club and I then communicated that I wanted to participate. I had the impression, from all my conversations with Brentford, that there was a mutual agreement to separate.
“But when the window is coming to an end, the club has now changed its position considerably, engaged against what was communicated. This has left me in a difficult and frustrating position.
“The dedication that I could leave this summer is not fulfilled.
“It is sad to have to write that, and I maintain the total respect for the club and its fans.
“I want to make it clear that I have not acted unprofessionally, nor do I want to leave Brentford on bad conditions.
“I have been transparent everywhere in my position. I openly continued to communicate with the club and behave in a way that reflects my values and both a football player and a person.
“I remain hopeful that a fair and reasonable resolution can still be found before the transfer window closes.
“In the meantime, I have to do what I think is good for my career and family and insist that Brentford Honor is holding their word to be joined at a new club and at a fair price.
“I want to thank all Brentford fans for their support and understanding during this difficult situation. Your energy and belief in me has always meant a lot. This was never about running away from what a fantastic football club is.
“The point is to continue with the blessing of Brentford on the basis of a repeated bet that I could leave for a new chapter this summer.
“Made to stay further than this summer, will only affect four wonderful years in this incredible club and so I ask the owners and directors of Brentford to keep their word now to let me leave in the last hours of the window.”
