WTT Youth candidate Mississauga – Canada and US end strong

Last week Mississauga, Canada was host for a WTT Youth Contender Series event. The tournament players from all over the world with top seeds from Slovakia and Poland and Japan and Nigeria – but was a real showcase for Canadian players and select American players who had this opportunity to play closer to home.

Butterfly players were very successful, including Kef Noorani who won U17 Boys, Sanuka Herath who won U15 Boys, Jaden Jia won U13 Boys, Olivia Huang who won U15 girls and Amber Lin who won U13 girls.

The best seed in U19 Boys singles was Samuel Arpas, and although he needed all five games to win in the final about Abdulbasit Abdulfatai from Nigeria, Arpas won in dominant fashion that spread 3 lost games over his four games. Canadians Jason Louie and Meech Dullaert were the semi -finalists. The best seed, the Japanese Rin Mende, did not lose a competition on the way to winning U19 Girls Singles. Mandy Yu of the US finished second, and Canada’s Ivy Pan and Abigail Yu of the US were the semi -finalists. The U19 Mixed Doubles title went to a team of mixed country with Bosman Botha in the US who collaborated with the Japanese Rin Mende.

U17 Boys was dominated by American players with Kef Noorani who defeated Yashraj Shah in the final of All-usa. Piotr Lacki and Canada’s Hongze Shan were the semi -finalists. The U17 Girls event was also a final of All-USA with Mandy Yu who defeated Abigail Yu and a few Canadians who fell the semi-final (Ivy Pan and Alexus Lee).

Canada’s Sanuka Herath defeated the US Ahinav Shirbhatate in the U15 Boys final. Canada ting him Ho and Lucas Chen finished third. It was all Canada in the U15 Girls event in which Olivia Huang won about Alexus Lee and Cindy Zhu and Zoe Patry finished third. Kef Noorani and Abigail Yu of the US won the U15 Mixed Doubles event.

In U13 Boys it was the US JIA JIA about Canada’s Daniel Liang (Jaden won all 12 games he played). Alvin Sun and William Li fell in the semi -final and settled for third place. Canada took all medals in U13 girls winning with Amber Lin, Melissa Jia finished second, and Olivia Wang and Sophia Wang shared third. U11 Boys was all Canadian with Aaron Mingran Wang who won, Kevin Yang finished second, and Darren Chen and Alex Ding in third place. U11 Girls was also completely Canadian with Olivia Wang Winning, Emily Xin in second place, and Tiffany Zhan and Fan Kexin in third place.
