WTA Rankings Report – from October 6, 2025 – Open Court

It is difficult to keep track of which tournaments end when, nowadays.

Midweek Starts and disadvantaged ranking updates and two weeks of events and therefore even when the Wuhan WTA 1000 has started, Beijing crawled.

But that 1000 means changes. And so this “regularly planned” update has a lot of it.

Moreover, five singles players and five double teams have now officially qualified for the WTA final, with a few not far away.

Jessica Pegula (US): No. 7 =============> Nr. 6 (Pegula came close to making the Beijing final, who might have moved her an extra place and caught up with Andreeva. But she couldn’t make it completely. She goes past Madison -tests)(Bye/Krueger or Baptiste)

Emma Navarro (US): No. 17 =========> Nr. 14 (It has been an unobtrusive season for Navarro after her lightning rose the top 10. But she does some good things in Beijing and moves three on it).(([WC] Zhang Shuai)

Linda Noskova (Jun): No. 27 ==============> Nr. 17 (It feels like Noskova has been around for much longer than she has; she is only 20. But after a quiet season she moves to a new career height by reaching the Beijing final).(([Q] Yulia Putintseva)

McCartney Kessler (US): No. 39 ===========> Nr. 33 (Kessler made the fourth round in Beijing and is back within the sowing of Melbourne).(Jaqueline Cristian)

Marie Buzkova (Jun): No. 52 ==============> Nr. 41 (Safe back in the top 50 for the 27-year-old Czech).(([Q] Varvara Gracheva)

Eva Lys (Ger): No. 66 ===========> Nr. 45 (A new career high for Lys, and a top 50 debut, after making the quarterfinals in Beijing and beating Jovic, Rybakina and Kessler).

Sorana Cirstea (Rou): No. 64 ==========> Nr. 58 (Cirstea worked in a protected ranking for a while. But suddenly she started winning competitions. She lost in the second round in Beijing but moved back to the Top 60. She was number 169 in mid -June).(Hertenresidu)

Sonay Kartal (GBR): No. 81 ============> Nr. 60 (Kartal is now the number 2 Brit after relieving Katie Boulter – with six points – and making the quarter -finals of Beijing and beating Kasatkina, Joint and Andreeva).

Priscilla Hon (van): nr. 108 =============> Nr. 95 (Hon, on 27, goes to the top 100 for the first time after qualifying in Beijing and making the third round. She also had a good run in Doubles with Karolina Muchova before she withdrew with an injury. It should be the first time, in countless performances that she would get to her own ranking list).

Katie Volynets (US): No. 107 ============> Nr. 97 (Volynets qualified and lost in the second round in Beijing. But she stormed to a WTA 125 in Suzhou and is in the final and is back in the top 100).

Simona Waltert (sui): No. 116 ===========> Nr. 98 (Another debutante in the Top 100, the 24-year-old Swiss made the quarterfinals on an ITF in Cosenza and wins another in Lisboa).

Aliaksandra Sasnovich (BLR): Nr. 130 ===========> Nr. 114 (Sasnovich, 31, has been as high as No. 29, but although she had bad patches, she can also come with large competitions on certain occasions. She qualified in Beijing and made the third round, beat Osaka in the second round).

Kayla Cross (CAN): No. 258 ===========> Nr. 224 (Cross became high enough to qualify in SLAM this summer, but fell away. She takes a good step back with a run to the ITF final in Templeton, Calif).

Zheng Qinwen (CHN): No. 9 ==================> Nr. 10 (Zheng is tenminste terug. Ze keerde terug en won haar eerste wedstrijd in Beijing. Maar ze trok zich terug uit de volgende en speelde haar geboortestad WTA 1000 niet in Wuhan. Katie Boulter (GBR): No. 54 ===========> Nr. 61 (Boulter drops to No. 3 in Great Britain, behind Raducanu and Kartal, after losing in the second round of Beijing. She also lost in the first round of Wuhan qualification, so no land can move. As recently as June she was the number 1 Brit).

Rebecca Sramkova (SVK): No. 55 ===========> Nr. 68 (Sramkova, who reached her career height of No. 33 in July, loses in the first round in Beijing and drops points from a qualifying-to-third round run a year ago. She wins her opener in Wuhan. But she has a final run in Jiangxi to defend at the end of the month)(Anna Kalinskaya)

Ajla Tomljanovic (AUS): nr. 94 ==========> Nr. 105 (Tomljanovic is falling from the top 100, after he had worked so hard to get back in. And she also went with her in her first round in Wuhan qualification this week).

Yuliia Starodubtseva (OKR): No. 86 ===========> Nr. 131 (Starodubtseva became less than two months ago as high as no. 63, but it was more difficult lately.
