Shelton wishes his girlfriend a happy Valentine’s Day

Trinity Rodman arrived in Dallas in time for friend Ben Shelton’s semifinal win.

As Ben Shelton advanced to the quarterfinals of the Nexo Dallas Open earlier this week, the American was asked about his girlfriend, soccer star Trinity Rodman, who recently had her US Women’s National Team coach Emma Hayes do a celebratory dance with her after she scored a goal.
Would Shelton ever let his father and coach, Bryan Shelton, do the same?
“I think there’s a better chance at a lot of things in life,” Shelton said. “I think that’s something that would never happen, so I wouldn’t even ask.”
But the second seed never said anything about himself. So when Rodman arrived for Shelton’s semifinal at the ATP 500 event in Dallas and the southpaw battled past defending champion Denis Shapovalov, she did the same celebratory dance in the stands.
What was Shelton’s response? To smile and do the same.
“This is the second tournament my girlfriend has been to on semifinal day,” Shelton said. “I’m 2-0 in the semi-finals if she shows up for that, so happy Valentine’s Day!”

Shelton will play Taylor Fritz for the trophy on Sunday. They split their two previous Lexus ATP Head2Head meetings.
It’s safe to say that if Shelton emerges victorious, another dance might be on the cards.
