While Litchfield’s departure is a setback for the Warriorz, it is Jones’ injury replacement that has made up for the loss. Jones has an abundance of experience playing international and franchise-based T20 cricket across the world. Playing for England Women, Jones scored 1666 runs in 125 T20Is and also offers an excellent option as a wicketkeeper.
Jones, who remained unsold in the WPL 2026 auction, has joined the UP Warriorz for INR 50 lakh and is expected to take the field in their two remaining league matches. They will first take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who they will play at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara on January 29. For the final match of the competition phase, the Warriorz will face the Rodrogueled capitals of Delhi.
For the unversed, the Warriorz are in trouble in terms of qualifying for the playoffs. They are languishing at the bottom of the table after managing to secure just two wins in six meetings. Winning both upcoming matches by a wide margin is the only way the Meg Lanning-led side has a chance to pull itself through.
There are only two spots available now that the race for the play-offs has intensified. First-placed Royal Challengers Bengaluru have already qualified for the play-offs, meaning only two of the next four teams will ultimately make it into the final top three spot. However, the journey for UP Warriorz seems to be the most difficult.
UP Warriorz updated roster:
