Immediately a flood of thoughts started to work through my feverish brain …
Is Tristan Jarry On the trade block? Has Flower been reduced to serve as our backup and/or to guide our stable of young goalkeepers? How will this influence our already overcrowded depth card in Doel?
Upon returning home I finally got the chance to dig a little deeper. I have to admit that I am emptied, and not just a bit.
The triple Cup winner and certain Hall-of-Famer are only reduced so that he can retire as a penguin. He is planned to participate in a team training on 26 September. The next day he will slide one last time between the pipes for the home people of PPG Paints Arena in a preseason with the Blue Jackets for what will certainly be an emotional and tear shift.
Then he will hang his pads forever, if not his affinity for benign practical jokes.
At least that is the plan.

The Penguins (actually their children) will officially start the season this afternoon when they take it at 3:30 pm as part of the 2025 Prospects Challenge Tournament in Buffalo.
Properties of the Blue Jackets, Devils and Sabres will also participate.
The schedule requires the hopeful pens to record the Blue Jackets on Sunday at 3.30 pm before he closes the tournament against the Sabres on Monday at noon.
