Washington Wizards general manager Will Dawkins indicated the organization remains optimistic about Anthony Davis returning to the game before the end of the season.
According to Dawkins, a more defined look at Davis’ availability should come around the All-Star break, when the team expects to have updated medical information.
This comes after a report on Saturday suggested Davis could be sidelined for the remainder of the season due to groin and hand injuries, a claim Dawkins did not fully endorse.
“The plan for AD right now is to go back to Dallas and finish his rehab,” he said. “He’s going to see the doctor again during the All-Star break. And that’s a big appointment for us to see where his progress is.”
Dawkins emphasized that the upcoming medical evaluation will play an important role in determining next steps as the Wizards continue to monitor Davis’ recovery and overall readiness to return.
He also noted that Trae Young, who has been dealing with a sprained knee, is on a similar evaluation timeline and will also be re-evaluated during the All-Star break.
“He’s still working for the court,” Dawkins said. “He started doing 1-on-0, he started doing a little bit more 2-on-2 type plays. … He’s moving in a positive direction.”
