The former world number 1 is working to reduce the number of injuries that have affected him over the past two seasons and should not be underestimated, especially in the most prestigious tournaments on the calendar. It is no coincidence that the 38-year-old from Belgrade has reached the semi-finals in all Majors this year, proving that he is only inferior to the Italian Jannik Sinner and the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz when he is really motivated.
Djokovic is still dealing with the times
Nole – who has added a new member to his team – will kick off his 2026 by competing in the Adelaide ATP 250, scheduled for January 12-17. The next day the Australian Open starts, where he will hunt for the eleventh victory in his great career. The 24-time Grand Slam champion wrote history at Melbourne Park, but has not triumphed there since 2023 and was in the semi-finals in the last two editions.
In a recent interview with the famous magazine ‘Championat’, former Russian star Nadia Petrova confessed that Djokovic could suffer a further decline next year: “If you look at the age of the players currently in the Top 10 of the ATP rankings, the average is around 23 years. Novak has nothing left to prove, he has broken every record and remains the last great exponent of his generation. However, his desire to continue competing is so intense that it drives him to give his best against all odds.
