Big boy edge (Sharp edge) enjoyed comfortable fractions and a tactical drive from Sam Widger to compete in the $18,000 Conditioned Trot event with running races on Tuesday evening (October 21) at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway.
When the sizable field of 10 was sent on its way by starter Mike Woebkenberg, Big Boys Edge was sent out of post No. 6, received the first call and was easily cleared to the top, while the rest of the field quickly fell into a single formation.
Big Boys Edge came through the opening panel in :28.3 and the lack of early challenges allowed him to get a breather of :30.2 in the second quarter.
Rock Climber (Luke Hanners) came up first and sprinted down the backstretch, but his challenge disappeared before the three-quarter mark in 1:27.1.
Lous Private Eye (Cameron McCown) went three wide around the fading Rock Climber but couldn’t close much ground.
Big Boys Edge pulled away by 3 ¾ lengths from a pocket sit and gamble favorite Beaueastel (Chris Page) in 1:56.4. Lous Private Eye came third.
