Big Boys Edge seemed to make a bump at the start, was collected and put into fourth place in the quarter in :27.3.
Muscle Joe (Chris Page) made a quick move to take the Long Ridge lead before the half mile in:56.4.
Widger knocked Big Boys Edge off the rail and started his long grind on the outside to put pressure on Muscle Joe at the three-quarter mark in 1:25.3.
Big Boys Edge took a head start when the field of seven turned for home and held off a late charge from Sure Did (Jeremy Smith) by three-quarters of a length. Southernsunshine (Brett Miller) rallied last and took the show spot.

Papa Nordin (Brett Miller) looked about to bounce the leader but broke in the stretch and closed the line in second, five lengths behind the winner.
The judges later determined that Papa Nordin had broken the offending rule and was placed in 8th place.
The DQ elevated Mjs Wishinforpete (Jason Beattie), who was 176-1, to second place and Rhinestone Camo (Ken Holliday), who was 17-1, to third place.
The trifecta earned $6,260.80 for a $0.50 ticket.
Aunt Lilly, who scored in 1:54.4, won for the seventh time in her career.
