What happens if your entire market disappears overnight? That was the reality LoopUp faced when the pandemic changed the way the world communicates.
In this episode of Tech Talks Daily, I talk to Steve Flavell, co-CEO of LoopUp, about how his company turned disruption into a defining moment of reinvention.
LoopUp started in 2003 on a mission to make conference calls less painful. The company grew steadily for more than a decade and even went public on the London Stock Exchange in 2016. But as Teams and Zoom became household names during the pandemic, LoopUp’s core business all but disappeared.
Faced with that challenge, Steve and his team made a bold pivot and moved to global cloud telephony for Microsoft Teams. That change not only saved the company, but transformed it into what Steve now calls the most multinational telecom company in the world, providing business voice services in 136 countries.
Steve shares what it took to navigate that transformation, from managing a five-fold increase in traffic to building a scalable global service model. He also reflects on the leadership lessons he’s learned along the way, including the power of perseverance, transparent communication and the power of his 22-year partnership as co-founder with Michael Hughes.
This is a story of resilience, clarity and strategic courage. For any founder or business leader who has ever faced a market shock or wondered how to evolve when everything changes, Steve’s journey provides an honest and inspiring roadmap to rebuild stronger than ever.
