Toyota’s affordable sub -compact SUV landed in North America before 2022, followed by a hybrid model a year later. A shock for absolutely nobody, the stylish Little Corolla Cross has since been a hit because the sale of the company continues to rise, whereby the boxes are checked for Toyota Reliability and Hybrid Efficiency without breaking the bank.
Before 2026, both gas and hybrid models see some updates that really move the needle in terms of performance, but a few important updates for the outside and the interior make this small sub-$ 30K transporter an even better proposition. This is what is new for the 2026 gas and hybrid subcompacts.

2026 Corolla Cross Gas Model Updates
Starting with just under $ 25,000 for the entry level L FWD trim, the gas model is also supplied in the LE-quality and XLE quality. Everything powered by the 2.0 liter 4-cylinder DOHC 16-valve motor, the three digits are available with front-wheel or four-wheel drive, which means that a respectable 169 hp with an estimated 32 combined (city/highway) MPG rating, according to Toyota. All collected in the Huntsville factory, Alabama.
More robust schedule, new console design and larger touchscreen -option
Compared to the outgoing 2025 model, the newest Corolla -Crossover gets a neat facelift. The new 2026 front grill is wider and slightly more robust, along with a new headlight design out that looks more streamlined.
The real collection meals here is that the Gas-Powerd 2026 Corolla Cross XLE and Hybrid-driven XSE level The Up Up for customers who are willing to pay extra for the refinements, added style and new technology.
The Top-Trim Xle now offers an 18-inch machine dark gray metallic finish alloy wheels, and both Le and Xle offer a new-for-2026 cavalry blue paint. In general, these are not huge changes, nor do they have to, but the adapted design at the front looks much slimmer.
Corolla crosses XLE -Effairs in the interior
Inside, Toyota aimed the center console: the waiting and parking buttons are now left of the shifter (unlike underneath), while moving the other buttons above the shifter. It is a cleaner, rectangular design without the shiny plastic in the outgoing model. And yes, the Dual Cupholds are also bigger for your large gulps and quirky Stanely Cups.
Of course there is a larger touchscreen. New is the optional 10.5-inch Multimedia screen that adds a nice touch of technology to the small forens of Toyota. Both L and L figures are supplied with standard 7-inch digital meter cluster; Xle’s standard is the much larger 12.3-inch cluster. The 2026 XLE also adds more sustainability with available Portobello Softex Interior.
2026 Corolla Cross Hybrid Model Updates
For customers who are interested in hybrid, the starting MSRP jumps up considerably over the gas version, with a price point of $ 28,995 for the S-figure at entry level. But that also includes four -wheel drive; All hybrid figures, including SE and XSE, do not offer a front -wheel drive.
The hybrid interiors are identical to the 2026 gas models with the optional 10.5-inch screen and the improved center console design, but the specifications do not show the harder SIFTEX interior grade of the gas model.
The power is also higher with the hybrid, assessed on a combined 196 hp (nothing changes here from 2025); The estimated fuel consumption is a combined 42 mpg, lower than gas models, but here you get power to all four wheels with standard electric on-demand four-wheel drive.
