The IPL 2008 Slap-Gate-Controverse has returned to the headlines after former Commissioner Lalit Modi had released an unseen clip by Harbhajan Singh Slapping s Sreesanth.
The video, unveiled during a discussion with ex-Australian cricket player Michael Clarke, attracted sharp criticism from the wife of Sreesanth, Bhuvneshwari.
She lashed out for Modi and Clarke and called the move ‘cheap publicity’ and ‘absolutely disgusting’ for the re -appearing of a painful incident from 18 years ago.
“Both Sree and Harbhajan have continued in life and are now fathers with school -going children. Yet you try to throw them back in an old wound,” she wrote.
In response to her comments, Modi defended herself.
“I don’t know why she gets angry. I was asked a question and I spoke the truth. Sree was a victim, and that’s why I said that. Nobody asked me before, so when Clarke wanted to know, I answered,” Modi told Ians.
Bhuvneshwari emphasized the emotional toll on their families and said that the video displayed forces their children to experience a trauma that was buried for a long time.
At Modi and Clarke, she insisted on ‘fearing God’ and to chase the consequences of chasing views at the expense of players’ families.
The original incident from 2008 had led Harbhajan Singh to be suspended for 11 games, while Sreesanth was left on the field in tears.
