A self-styled prankster identified as Johnson Wen breached security at the Singapore premiere of Wicked: For Good.
On Thursday night, he rushed across the red carpet to Ariana Grande and briefly grabbed her before being removed by security.
The incident took place at around 8.15pm local time at Marina Bay Sands as Grande, 32, and co-star Cynthia Erivo posed for photos ahead of the film’s global release on November 21.
Video footage shows Wen, 28, jumping over a barricade, sprinting toward Grande and making physical contact.
This included pulling her arm before Erivo stepped in to intervene along with security staff.
There were no injuries and the event went ahead after a short delay.
The Singapore Police Force has confirmed it is reviewing video evidence and speaking to witnesses to determine whether charges will be laid.
A spokesperson for Universal Pictures, which distributes Wicked: For Good, called the infringement “unacceptable.”
They also said enhanced security protocols will be implemented for the remaining promotional events.
The film, directed by Jon M. Chu, is the second installment in the two-part adaptation of the Broadway musical Wicked.
It has caused quite a stir following the success of 2024’s Wicked: Part One.
Wen, an Australian content creator known online as @pyjamamann on Instagram, has a history of stage crashes and event trespasses.
This includes incidents at concerts by The Weeknd and Katy Perry, and during the football final of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
He is known for his far-left ideologies and sending messages of support for Palestine, the Ukrainian resistance and LGBTQIA+.
Based on his previous invasions, Wen lives a nomadic lifestyle, is unemployed, and contributes nothing to society.
