What is your feasible dream car? – Jalopnik

Many people have dream cars that, if we are all honest, we will never see. Most of us will never afford that Testarossa, Boat Tail or Voiture Noir that adorned our bedroom wall as a child, because most of us will have a regular job for the money on a regular car. But don’t despair: there are plenty of fantastic vehicles available at reasonable prices, and today we’re here to talk about them. Today we ask: What is your feasible dream car?

Of course, everyone has their own budgets, and that means everyone has their own definition of ‘feasible’. My guideline here, as the arbiter in such matters, is simple: if your “achievable” dream car costs more than about $100,000, you’re going to have to justify it. It doesn’t have to be much – a simple “I work in tech” will suffice – but the goal here is to talk about dream cars available at proletarian prices. Let’s talk about what’s available

I’m a Z girl

I’ve made no secret of my love for the Datsun Z since joining Jalopnik, and I think reasonable quality Zs are modestly priced enough that I could—perhaps eventually, with enough cuts and savings—afford one. No restomod or anything, nothing found in a shed or frame-off restored, but perhaps one that doesn’t require too much welding in the floor to fill in the rust holes. A nice project Z is, I think, feasible with the salary of an automotive journalist – and maybe even with the parts to put it all back together and run it.

My choice for an attainable dream car is the S30 Datsun Z, but which is yours? Leave your answers in the comments below, and I’ll go through my favorites later this week. Let me know what car you’ve always wanted that you could actually put in your garage one day.
