Wallace, 31, has made 10 appearances in all competitions for the Championship so far in this campaign and has scored one goal. As things stand, he is expected to become a free agent in June 2026.

In this latest update on his situation, journalist Drury has delivered his verdict, according to a report from the Express & Star: “The club captain, who was signed on a free transfer, was a regular during his first two seasons at Albion, scoring six goals in both campaigns. Since then, his playing time has diminished, much of it as a substitute. I think most fans will salute the hard work and leadership that Wallace has brought to Albion during his time at the club. But given his limited role and a few injury problems, he is unlikely to stay beyond this season.”

The Baggies are in fourteenth place after their first fourteen games. They are four points away from the play-offs.

What next for Jed Wallace at West Brom?

West Brom will consider what to do with Wallace next. For now, he is a useful option to call on for WBA.

Plus, he’s a good character to have in and around the locker room. If he were to leave next year for nothing, it would free up payroll space to pave the way for younger alternatives.

The Baggies turned to Ryan Mason as their head coach in the summer and he was picked as their replacement for Tony Mowbray. The 34-year-old signed a three-year contract until 2028 and left his position in Tottenham Hotspur’s backroom staff to take up his first senior managerial role in the Football League.

The results have been quite inconsistent for Mason so far and he is still learning on the job. His side won 2-1 at home against Oxford United last time out before the international break, with Aune Heggebo managing to get on the scoresheet.

West Brom are back in action next weekend. They are set for a trip to Coventry City.
