West Brom are in talks with Crystal Palace defender Danny Imray for the rest of the season Mike McGrath of The Telegraph.

West Brom boss Eric Ramsay are in desperate need of reinforcements and 22-year-old Danny Imray would help address the lack of natural options at right-back.

With less than a week to go in the transfer window, Max O’Leary is the only addition to the WBA squad so far this winter. However, that could change Mike McGrath report that talks are underway over a loan deal for Crystal Palace star Imray.

Imray spent the first half of the season on loan to League One side Blackpoolwith the young defender impressing before his time at Bloomfield Road was cut short by his parent club.

The signing of Danny Imray addresses the main concern for Eric Ramsay’s West Brom formation

During Ramsay’s first three games as head coach of West Brom, the 34-year-old has opted to continue with the three-man defense that brought him success during his tenure at Minnesota United.

However, WBA’s right-back options, George Campbell and Alfie Gilchrist, have not been used as full-back options. Instead, Ramsay has rotated between the likes of Mikey Johnston, Isaac Price and Jed Wallace on the right flank, with none of the three standing out as suitable for the role.

With the potential signing of Imray, Ramsay will not have to push a key player into a challenging position in what is an important part of his formation.

The young full-back played on the right side of a back four and a back five during his time at Bloomfield Road, with his goals and assists from defense proving his ability to get forward and contribute to his team’s attack.

Danny Imray could mean a busy end to West Brom’s transfer window

The signing of Crystal Palace defender Imray would give Ramsay the chance to level his West Brom side. With less than a week to go until the February 2 deadline, there are still areas that need to be addressed.

Following the end of Toby Collyer’s loan spell, WBA are still relatively low in central midfield, despite the return to fitness of Jayson Molumby and Alex Mowatt. There is the possibility of playing Price in a deeper role, but it would be surprising if the Baggies don’t make moves to fill the lack of depth in midfield.

Additionally, West Brom could also look to bring in a centre-back who is comfortable playing on the left of a back three. Charlie Taylor started the defeats against Middlesbrough and Norwich City before being dropped for the draw with Derby County.

Ramsay’s side head to Fratton Park to take on Portsmouth in what could be a key part of West Brom’s season as the Baggies look to combat the prospect of relegation to League One.
