Lauri Markkanen has given the Utah Jazz good reason to believe that the actions of him would be the wrong choice. Because he is in a reconstruction team like Jazz, there will always be trade proposals around him. The most recent would send him to a team that was previously raised as a Markkans destination: the Philadelphia 76ers.
Grant Hughes from Bleacher Report A trade between jazz and Sixers in which the following would happen.
Sixers received: Markkanen
Receive jazz: Paul Georges, 2028 Los Angeles Clippers
Hughes explained why the jazz would agree to such an exchange.
“Utah Hamstert the future scoops of other teams and may be susceptible to strike them together with different smaller contracts in exchange for Markkanen. Although the Finnish attacker has remained his own struggle on the floor of lately, his movement would shoot and efficient scoring him have a fascinating addition to the Embiid-Tyrees.”
This was brought up before the time. The Jazz had the opportunity to use Markkanen in the design to get a higher choice, but that never went somewhere, mainly because of how bad George looked in Philadelphia, and that choice three to five lay people are interchangeable.
But now? It seems a bit drastic because achieving only one choice from Markkans, who inherits the decreasing player on an Albatros, seems to be too much paid. Perhaps even after the design had happened, the jazz would consider, but another factor plays in the game.
The Dominance of Lauri Markkanen should increase his commercial value
In addition to playing for a young team that does not intend to win many games this season, Markkanen is also driven into commercial ideas because his contract is as expensive as it is while he comes from a matte general performance.
His revival during Eurobasket, however, is a fairly good indication that Markkans will bounce back this season. Even if Utah was planning to exchange him, acquiring a terrible deal with George and getting just one conceptactive for their problems is too little return.
So although Utah can exchange Markkans somewhere in the line, it doesn’t seem like the right moment now, and it certainly doesn’t seem like they would give him to the sixers. Utah would give Philadelphia a few too many favors in a trade like this.
The irony, if Utah will be in a year or as far away from play -off position, is a world where they might be willing to choose George’s Deal together with those clippers and exchange Markkans, but not in the same deal.
