Another chance. One more chance at a play-off spot. Another week of fantasy before the real fun begins. Let’s maximize your lead, secure a playoff spot and root for the best possible playoff team. So, and every other week, I bring you an article that answers two simple questions: who should I stream this week and who should I save for the future?
To keep things simple, we’ll define a streamer as any player you wouldn’t normally pick up and who is a viable option this week. They may be on your bench or they may be on waivers depending on your league. We define a stash as any player you could potentially find on waivers that you should save for the future, either because there’s a favorable matchup ahead or because they could become a future fantasy starter.
QB streamers:
Jared Goff (DET): Jared Goff had one top 12 finish in the first nine weeks, but a month of positive matchups changed that as he is now the QB11 of the season. And it gets even better this week as he faces a Cowboys team that allows four more points per week than any other team. That gap with 1st-2i.e is the same size as the opening from 2i.e-14e. This is the matchup we should target every week. Start Goff.
Jordan Love (GB): Jordan Love has also done quite poorly, with three huge finishes of over 25 points sandwiched between seven games in which he couldn’t surpass 16 points. But he gets the Bears in Weeks 14 and 16 and they’re both great matchups. They have solid run offenses, but let a lot of points fly through the air. Love is an upward current in week 14.
QB Save:
Jaxson Dart (NYG): Need a quarterback for Week 15? Jaxson Dart is your man. His retirement this week makes him available in a host of competitions and he faces the very attacking Commanders next week. Put it away if you’re unlikely to make it to a bye week.
Bryce Young (CAR): Need a quarterback for Week 16? Do you have a bye but can’t trust your current passer-by? I would hide Bryce Young. He has two top four finishes in his last three matches and he will get a Top 3 match in your Fantasy Semi-Finals. The Buccaneers have allowed the top three points to quarterbacks, bringing Young into the game for a successful Week 16.
RB streamers:
Kimani Vidal (LAC): Kimani Vidal alternated between a Top 8 fantasy finish and failing to break the Top 32 during his eight games as a starter. This is supposed to be a free week according to schedule; but the Eagles are a good running back matchup. And with Justin Herbert limited at best, I expect LA to lean on the ground game. It’s possible this won’t get much attention if Herbert isn’t right, but I think the volume makes Vidal a worthwhile risk regardless.
Chris Rodriguez (WAS): Chris Rodriguez established himself as the clear commander early on. Meanwhile, the Vikings were great against the pass, which led to teams attacking them on the ground with some success. In what is expected to be a close game, I’m backing Rodriguez for fifteen carries and a touchdown.
Blake Corum (LAR): Teams have been up in arms against the Cardinals lately, with the Rams using Blake Corum to take the pressure off Kyren Williams in their big wins. With the Rams 8.5-point favorites, I see Corum getting a dozen carries for a solid chance at double-digit points.
RB repositories:
Jordan Mason (MIN): Aaron Jones can’t stay healthy and the Vikings are getting some good matchups in the playoffs. Jordan Mason is a valuable asset in case Jones is shut down.
Running Backs get injured more often than any other player in fantasy, with the average Top 36 running back in fantasy missing two games per season. For that reason, the best bet in fantasy is to use running backs who are one injury away from a down role. Each week I’ll list my favorite RB stocks, including the players you won’t get to play with most weeks.
Top Handcuffs: Blake Corum, Brian Robinson, Bhayshul Tuten, Chuba Hubbard, Ollie Gordon, Tank Bigsby, Malik Davis, Isaiah Davis, Ameer Abdullah, Keaton Mitchell, Ray Davis
WR streamers:
Terry McLaurin (WAS): The Commanders played 90 snaps and hounded the Broncos for much of the game in Week 13, but Denver is still incredibly impressive. And that’s what Terry McLaurin did in his first week back. He didn’t even play a full snap count either! That makes him an every-week starter for me, until you hear otherwise. The Vikings are a stingy matchup, but I’ll start with Scary Terry anyway.
Alec Pierce (IND): Michael Pittman is nominally the Colts WR1, but it’s Alec Pierce who has performed most impressively for Indy. This week he faces an improved but still leaky Jaguars secondary. There’s enough here to start him as a solid WR3/flex-style streamer.
Adonai Mitchell (NYJ): The Jets have new outside starters in Adonai Mitchell and John Metchie. While Metchie started the better of the two, Mitchell has outscored him overall and is the safer play against the Dolphins this week. While neither is a true safe play, I might start with either WR if you struggle with pass catchers.
WR repositories:
Devaughn Vele (NO): After his surprise move from the Broncos, Devaughn Vele has established himself as the clear WR2 in NOLA. With Chris Olave currently a constant injury risk, Vele is a valuable asset that could be very valuable in the playoffs. He’s even a viable deep streamer in a solid matchup this week.
TE streamers:
Brenton Strange (JAC): I’ve been banging the Brenton Strange drum all preseason and I’m rocking again. The Colts are one of the easiest matchups this season and Strange has been a consistent target for Trevor Lawrence. I start it everywhere I own it.
Dalton Kincaid (BUF): Dalton Kincaid has yet to play more than 55% snaps this season, and since the bye week he has run fewer than 18 routes each week. But against the Bengals, the league’s best tight end matchup by a wide margin, I’m going into Kincaid without fear. If he’s out, I’d consider Dawson Knox a cheap option as well.
TE storage:
Darren Waller (MIA): I’d rather see Darren Waller’s snaps return to pre-injury levels before I start him, but he’s a valuable, positive asset who could win you a playoff game if things go his way. There’s a huge touchdown on his upside and if we can get some volume as well, he might be a surprise stud.
K streamers:
Harrison Mevis (LAR): Did you know Harrison Mevis was now the Rams kicker? Did you know he was even an NFL player? Honestly, it doesn’t matter. Mevis is a good kicker with a good matchup on a good team. He started this week well and safely.
Riley Patterson (MIA): Don’t you want safety? What about the top? Riley Patterson has been great lately and will have a fantastic matchup against the Jets in Week 14. He’s also solid for Week 15, as an added bonus.
K storage:
Andy Borregales (NE): I hate this and I don’t want to do this, but in some leagues, a Week 14 kicker stock is worth it. Andy Borregales has great matchups in weeks 16 and 17. If you’re already locked into a bye week spot, schedule Borregales and just wait. In some competitions I play against him even though he has retired because I am already committed to my placement. He’ll be worth it.
Daylight Savings Streamers:
Buccaneers DST (TB): The Saints have been mediocre all season and got the Dolphins off to a great DST start last week. Let’s see if the Buccs can do the same this week?
Dolphins DST (MIA): The Dolphins could also be good this week. They face a struggling Jets offense that has admittedly turned things around lately. However, I’m excited to start Miami’s defense again in Week 14.
Daylight saving time storage:
Saints DST (NO): New Orleans faces the Panthers and Jets in the next two weeks and has proven to be solid in good matchups. I don’t like putting away Daylight Savings Time, but this is the one time of year when it makes sense. The Saints DST is my favorite and is available in most leagues.
