According to Fabrizio Romano, Roma made Zirkzee their ‘top target’ in January and are ‘progressing discussions’ with the 24-year-old over personal terms.

A number of key United strikers are either absent from the African Cup of Nations or missing some through injury. Bruno Fernandes will be sidelined for “a while” after being forced off at half-time of Sunday’s defeat at Aston Villa, while Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo have joined the Cameroon and Ivory Coast national teams respectively.
