Steve Webster claimed a Maiden Legends Tour -victory in the English Legends of Grass & Co. Organized by Roger Chapman, who won two shots after a tense last day in Brocket Hall.

The Englishman, who only played in his Sevent Tour event since he turned earlier in the year 50, has carded a level-par round of 73 to eliminate the Keith Horne and Welshman Bradley Dedge in South Africa, who placed the clubhouse lead earlier in the day par 64.

During the round

Afterwards, an emotional web star spoke difficult to understand a tumultuous final round. “I just can’t explain it. I was cruising, and then I didn’t even feel that I could play two holes, and then I cruised again, and then it felt like I was a 30 handicap, then I hit a good shot, and then I hit a terrible, and it was such a roll coaster that is there. That is the most difficult day golf.

“I really made it difficult for myself. I played great for the first two days, but your mind wanders a little when you get five or six clearly. So if Tiger of Rory look, I have to know how I can run a little better. I can’t believe that I finally got over the line.

“I had no idea what the players were doing around me, I was so worried about myself. I made a nice Birdie on nine that I thought I would calm down, but then I hit a bad shot in 10 and then a bad shot in 11, and then you have the feeling that you are going on a bogey run.

Then I three-proof the parthree and I thought we’re going here again. But I hit a great shot in 18 and managed to make the Birdie for the victory. I’m just so happy, it’s great. “

The chase package

With Webster staggering on the back nine, the door was a jar for the pursuit package to capitalize, but neither Keith Horne or Thomas Gogele – both winners on the Legends tour – were able to exert pressure.

Horne Eagleed 10 brilliant to reach -12, but then gave both shots back over the next two holes and left no other Birdie to the house.

He has at least the consolation to go second place in the order of merit and to close the gap for leader Scott Hend that T20 has ended.

Gogele, who played next to Webster, then missed a series of opportunities when his putter got cold, failed to convert some excellent opportunities and eventually fall to T5.

Meanwhile, dredging, who was ready earlier in the day, would wonder if -10 could be enough after his beautiful 64.

“I was disappointed about my scores the first two rounds, but my swing felt better and I had high expectations of today,” said Dedge. “I made a good start, hit it close and rolled in the putts – but the only disappointment is not to manage a Birdie on 16, 17 or 18 years old. I was looking forward to this and Ireland next week and hopefully this will be a good end to the season for me.”

Monty and Baker

Elsewhere the top 10 also included Peter Baker, whose birdie was enough for a 72 and sole 4 for the lastone place. Former European No. 1 Colin Montgomerie rolled back the years to end T5 at -8 after a round of 70 -he was accompanied by Mikael Lundberg, Jean -Francois Remesy and Gogele.

Tournament-Gastheer Roger Chapman enjoyed a last walk along the Fairway when he signed his 44-year career with the English legends in an emotional way.

“It has been a great week and I was so moved by the reception that I received from everyone -from my colleague players to the Legends tour and everyone connected to this event. I am looking forward to retiring and the grind of professional wave will not miss. But it was a great career when I was never dreamed for the first time.”

The Legends tour now continues to Ballymena and the Black Desert Ni Legends.
