The PGA Tour is eliminated this week, just like the LPGA. The same for Liv Golf. There is Some good wave abroad with the head of Rory McIlroy on the Irish Open. But if you wanted something, and with a number of emerging stars, we recommend looking at the west coast.
The 50th game of the Walker Cup Thes OFF on Saturday and Sunday of Cypress Point Club in Pebble Beach, California, one of the most famous (and highly ranked) courses in the world. Here is everything you need to know.
Wait, what exactly is the Walker Cup?
It is the amateur version for gentlemen of the Ryder Cup of Solheim Cup, with one team from the United States who record the best men’s sameners from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, which include the Great Britain and Ireland team.
So they are 12 players per team, such as the Ryder Cup?
No! The Walker Cup has 10 players per side, plus a leader. This event, just like the aforementioned others, is also played every other year between the US and Great Britain as hosts.
What is the Walker Cup format?
Unlike the Ryder Cup of Solheim Cup, the Walker Cup is compressed to two days. Here is the schedule for Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday 6 September
11-11: 45 AM ET-4 Foursomes competitions (alternative recording)
4: 45-5: 55 pm et-8 singles matches
Sunday September 7
11-11: 45 AM ET-4 Foursomes competitions (alternative recording)
4: 30-6 pm ET-10 Singles matches
How does anyone win?
If you win your match, you get a point. If you and your opponent tie up, each side gets half a point. The team that scores most in the four sessions wins, and if there is a (sigh!) Bag, the trophy will continue to be with the team that has won the previous meeting, which in this case the US would be
Sounds nice! How do I look at it?
You can view it on Peacock and Golf Channel. Peacock will stream early action on Saturday and Sunday from 12: 30-3: 30 pm et, and Golf Channel takes over the broadcast for the later sessions, 19-10 hours et every day.
This golf course is also good, right?
Yes! Although Pebble Beach Golf on the left gets a lot of love because it is public and organizes an annual PGA Tour -stop (and Majors), the neighbor, Cypress Point, is not slow. Cypress Point was designed by Alister Mackenzie and is in second place on both the top 100 jobs of Golf in the US and the top 100 courses in the world lists (with New Jersey’s Pine Valley that pointed it on both lists).
Famous holes?
Few jobs offer the beautiful view that you can find on Cypress Point, and the most famous wave hole of all is the par-3 16th, which is not only a breathtaking scene, but calls for a long wear over the ocean to a tight green surrounded by bunkers, rocks and water.

How do I get a Tee time on Cypress Point?
You can’t do it. (Unless you have qualified for this Walker Cup.)
Which players should I know?
A lot of the top players of the Pro Game participated in the Walker Cup before they came to the Tour, and this year’s group of players have eight of the top 10 in the men’s world amateur golf ranking and 14 players in the top 50 of the Wagr.
The headlining that list is American Jackson Koivun, a rising junior at Auburn who won the Haskins Award two years ago as the best collegial male golfer. It was the first time that a freshman won the prize since Justin Thomas did this in 2012. Koivun even played in six pro events in 2025, missed the cut in just one (the US Open) and finished T11, T6 and T5 in its last three. He has already earned his tour card via the PGA Tour Accelerated Program.
A few others to mention on the American side: Michael La Sasso (2025 ADA individual champion), Mason Howell (2025 US Amateur winner) and Ben James (no. 1 in PGA Tour University Ranking).
For GB & I stands out one familiar name in Luke Poulter, the son of European Ryder Cup Great Ian Poulter. Luke, as you can see above, has already had a good start, because practice rounds are going on.
Another popular name is Niall Shiels Donegan, who was a local favorite last month at the Olympic club in California for the American amateur. Shiels Donegan made it all the way to the semi -final before being eliminated.
Where are future Walker Cups?
Only with some of the best courses in the world. Although there will be no alternative years between this year’s event and the following, the Walker Cup will move from 2026 to even years. It will be next year at Lahinch Golf Club in Ireland, back on the west coast in Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in 2028, in Prince’s Golf Club in England and then to Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania in 2032. Other future locations were also announced: Chicago Golf Club).
