We spend $15,000 to make our Subaru BRZ faster: video

Let’s say it is escalated with my 2023 Subaru BRZ project car since the last update.

I slowly built up the BRZ, first with a track day at Laguna Seca, then with some basic modifications like a Recaro bucket seat, new tires and a Brembo Pista big brake kit to complete the treatment. But it was finally time to put everything together for our YouTube channel, so we took it to a track day and tested all the mods I’ve put on it so far.

Avid viewers will quickly realize that most of these mods have already been blogged about, so there’s actually an element of movie magic to them. What actually happened was that I installed some parts for the video during the track day, and wrote about them later. But it was the real first track test of each part, and I thought it would be a fun challenge to see if we could go from zero to hero in one track day.

We also discovered which mods are really worth it. Some mods are great for setting faster lap times. Others are good for simple comfort and consistency. Either way, the mod should work and improve the experience in a meaningful way. The stopwatch doesn’t lie, and neither does the driver.

This video is only part one of the series. We have more in the tank, and I have taken the BRZ much further than this as a track car. For now, sit back and enjoy our first entry into the YouTube project cars, and let us know what you think.
