The 31-year-old called her wife immediately after his match-winning innings but was unable to get in touch.
“No messages! I’m calling the woman, the boss! Never connects,” Samson said after a failed attempt to reach his wife.
However, after collecting his Player of the Match medal, Samson pulled his phone out of his socks and video called his wife, Charulatha Samson, to share the post-match emotions.
In a heartwarming moment, his wife was unaware she was being filmed by the media, and later smiled hugely and posed to celebrate the moment when she found out she was being recorded.

Sanju Samson takes India home
Samson was playing only his third match in this year’s T20 World Cup. The former Rajasthan Royals however, skipper grabbed the opportunity with both hands to score an unbeaten 97 and take his side home.
The devastating opening batsman scored at an incredible strike rate of 194, in an innings that featured twelve fours and four sixes.
Samson also took the gloves in the match against West Indies and took two crucial catches to dismiss Shimron Hetmyer and Sherfane Rutherford off the bowling of Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya respectively.
India will now travel to Mumbai to face England for the third time in a row in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup on Thursday, March 5. The Men in Blue will be hoping for a repeat of the performance they achieved in 2024, when they defeated Jos Buttler’s side by 68 runs in Guyana.
