President Trump will host a dinner tonight in the East Room of the White House, reportedly aimed at raising donations for the construction of a new White House ballroom.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, Trump previously announced his intention to build the new ballroom in the White House, telling reporters that he paid for the $200 million project and, “They’ve wanted a ballroom in the White House for over 150 years, but there’s never been a president who’s been good at ballrooms. I’m really good,” he said. “I’m good at building things, and we’ll get it built quickly and on time.”
Trump has also said he plans to bring in donors to help him complete the project.
The White House announced in a press release that “the project will begin in September 2025 and is expected to be completed well before the end of President Trump’s term.”
This follows several other renovations the president has made to the White House, including the Rose Garden and the Palm Room, as well as the installation of two nearly 100-foot flagpoles on the North and South Lawns.

The new ballroom, estimated to cost $200 million, meets Trump’s long-held desire for a larger space for formal gatherings on the White House grounds. The president said in September that he and donors would pay for the space, as the project’s size and price tag drew criticism. Trump has fretted over costs for other government projects, most notably the renovation of the Federal Reserve building in Washington.
The event is expected to start at 7:30 PM ET.
