After taking a game one of the series in Philadelphia in comeback Style, the Nationals dropped the last 2 games of the series 4-6 and 2-3, which ended their 10-game position against NL East opponents on a respectable 5-5. Since the return of Dylan Crews to the Line -up, the team has played with a different kind of lead, not only won more often, but lost in much closer way, but only once in the 10 games are blown up against the 2 best teams in their division. They will look to keep this momentum alive while they are on their way to play the New York Yankees, who struggled in August, placed a record of 10-11 and came home a series of losses on their bitter rivals, the Boston Red Sox.
The Yankees go like Aaron Judge goes, and since his return of an injury, Judge has not looked like the most feared Slagman in baseball that many know him as, in which he placed a .690 Ops in his last 7 games, and a .813 Ops in his last 30 games, but not when you are for most battlesmensen, but not a respectable number, but not for most battlesmensen, but not for the most battlesmensen, but not a respectable number, but not for the most battlesmensen, but not a respectable number, but not for the most battlesmensen, but not for the most battlesmensen, but not for the most battlesmensen, but when you are opens. The Nationals Have Done a Solid Job in recent Years of Limiting Judge’s Damage Against Them, in 16 Career Games Against the Nats, He is Hitting .226 With 4 Home Runs, 3 Coming in August Of 2023. Baseball, with 4 other Qualified Hitters Registering OPSS over .800. One of those players, a name that Nats fans are very famous, is midfielder Trent Grisham, who has 4 home runs in his last 7 games and an Ops of .956.
Despite losing their bait, Gerrit Cole, for the season due to a torn UCL in March, the start rotation of the Yankees was one of the better units in baseball in 2025, with their 3.84 starters ERA ranking 10th in MLB. They are led by Free Agent Acquisition Max Fried, WH0’s 3.14 ERA is best for staff and veteran Carlos Rodon, but have received quality income from their young arms, including Warren, Clarke Schmidt and Cam Schlittler. Despite the matte 4.29 era, their bullpen is an incredibly strong unit, while they strengthened it at the Handelsdeadline with the acquisitions of David Bednar of the Pirates and Camilo Doval of the Yankees.

Game One – Monday 7:05 pm Est
WSH: RHP Brad Lord (4-6) – 96.1 IP, 3.46 ERA, 1.25 Whip
Lord rode the last time -out to another quality file before the bats of the Mets finally reached him in the 6th inning, ending his day with 5 1/3 innings and 4 points allowed. Lord is the face of consistency for the NATS in 2025 and placed a 2.63 ERA in his last 30 games, 6 of those starts, but he is now confronted with his heaviest test so far against the best line -up in baseball on the road.
NYY: RHP Cam Schlittler (1-2) – 36.1 IP, 3.22 ERA, 1.32 Whip
Schlittler made his big league debut on July 9 for the Yankees and has since looked like a complete veteran, which allowed him no more than 3 points in one of his first 7 big -class start. He comes from the best start of his last time out, a 6/3 innings, 8 strikeout, scoreless performance in one of the most attacking parks in baseball in Steinbrenner Field, temporarily at home of the Tampa Bay Rays.
Game two – Tuesday 7:05 pm este
WSH: LHP Mackenzie Gore (5-12) – 142.1 IP, 4.11 ERA, 1.35 Whip
After back-to-back strong starts against the Giants and Phillies, Gore struggled in his last start against the Mets, only 4 1/3 innings went, allowing 3 points to allow and, the most worrying, 4 batters run. The strikeout stuff was there as always, but he must learn to occasionally avoid a bladder outings that he has if he wants to prevent his era from where he should have balloons.
NYY: RHP Luis Gil (1-1) – 19 IP, 4.26 ERA, 1.68 Whip
Al Rookie of the Year last year Gil made his seasonal debut on 3 August and has since continued to rise, now that 5 or more innings are going in his last 3 starts now. The results are not yet completely for him, but the talent is there and the figures will improve as he returns to 100% health.
Game Three – Wednesday 1:05 pm Est
WSH: RHP Gift Cavalli (1-0) – 22.1 IP, 2.82 ERA, 1.34 Whip
Cavalli was so close to the running of 6 innings of 1-run ball in his last start against the Phillies before Bryson Stott got him for a 2-run Homer with 2 out in the 5th, but even then it was another impressive performance for him in his 4th start of 2025. He will now have to take another high in the Yanke in Yanke.
NYY: LHP Max Fried (13-5) – 155 IP, 3.14 ERA, 1.12 Whip
Fried is a familiar face of his time in Atlanta and has continued to throw as one of the best left-baseball since his move to the Bronx, including a 6-year-free version against the Red Sox in his last start. The Nationals are fried harder than most teams in his career, because he has a 3.97 career era against them, including giving up 4 runs more than 6 innings in September last year.
Can the NATS sprint through the finish?
The Nationals are almost the end of one of the most brutal parts of their schedule throughout the year, but it has not prevented them from looking like a competitive club, because they have folded their way back to win a number of large competitions and even to be stuck in competitions in which they had no things to stay in. Can the nationals benefit from their mistakes, or will the pure firepower of the line -up of the Yankees and Pitching -Staff win? Respond your thoughts below and let’s go nats!
