WAO Isola, coworking space in the heart of the Milan Island District, organizes the presentation of the book “Regina Coeli 26.12.1958” by the artist Manuel Cossu (Andante Books), a work that is fully devoted to the visit of Pope Angelo Roncelli in the Roman prison.
The book was born from the accidental meeting of the author with an old photographic volume about the life of Pope Roncalli. In particular, a photo of the Pope, together with the prisoners of Regina Coeli Cossu, inspired to tell, through paintings, drawings and words, the day of December 26, 1958, when Pope John XXIII visited the prisoners. A historic moment full of humanity, where the figure of the pope and that of prisoners merge into the common difficulty to be in the world and find the key to understand the mystery of life.
In addition to the presentation of the book, the exhibition “I Believe in Everything” will be inaugurated, a selection of portraits made by Manuel Cossu: iconic characters such as Jackie Kennedy, Fred Buscaglione, Lieutenant Colombo, Sandro Pertini, Cesare Pavese, Presley. Different figures, but all united by a profound loneliness and through a relentless trust in someone’s visions. The works will continue to be seen from WAO Isola until Saturday 5 April and offer the public the opportunity to immerse themselves in the creative universe of Cossu.
The inauguration evening is accompanied by the musical selection of Enrico Camanzi (@Fireandicesoul), who will contribute to creating a unique and suggestive atmosphere with his vinyls.
The WAO Isola bar will be open with a wide choice of focaccia, pizzas, piadine, accompanied by beers, wine, spritz and non -alcoholic. A perfect opportunity for an evening of reflections, culture, art and fun.
