There was almost 90% chance of rain today and the predictors were correct. Vicki Buholz and I were warmed up for 45 minutes at 7:45 am and Vicki gave me a great warm -up. (She has a day off today.) We started our competition a bit before 9 am. It started to sprinkle around 9:30 or so, raining 20 minutes later and around 10 a.m., most courts were in a rain delay … By 10:40 it flowed and the courts were soaked … And by 1:30 the courts were dry again and the game started around 3 p.m. However, we were ready just before 10 o’clock without taking a rain break … the last few points we played, although it rained pretty hard!
After my match I had tea with one of the British players, Pauline Fisher … He thought it was pretty funny when I said I had to put on trousers (pants that mean ‘underpants’ in British English I believe). I finally left around 11.30 am to get my “pants”, to shower to warm up and let my laundry wash in the main hotel. I returned during lunch time, which nowadays did not include sweets, except for many vegetables (cooked and salads, and pasta with meat or vegetable echili).
My wax was then ready and I went back to my room while it was dry to hang my wax and my shoulder etc., but Rudy and MJ Pachl asked if I wanted to participate for a walk around Feldsee and I did. The lake is a small, but half of the walk is directly along the lake and very beautiful. The sun was shining and it felt firm but not too cold.
After the walk I picked up my tense racket and walked back to my hotel … Only to cycle back with my bands to do my training in the gym.
In the meantime, Vicki walked around Lake Afitz just south of Feld am See, of which she said it took an hour. Yesterday she was paddleboarding while MJ was swimming (although apparently Vicki went swimming at the end when she slid from her plate.
The times for tomorrow go up at 8 p.m. I will play Sylvia Reigl again and Vicki plays the conqueror of MJ Pachl. I may not play singles tomorrow. The double draws are finally posted … We play in the 55S.
