The Sri Lanka team for the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 has received a big boost as a starter Canaan is not has been declared suitable and recorded in the 16-person team for the tournament in the VAE. The Been-Spinning Allrounder, which has been one of Sri Lanka in recent years, was sidelined because of a hamstring injury that was sustained during the ODI series against Bangladesh in July.
Hasaranga missed the T20i series against Bangladesh and the subsequent tour through Zimbabwe, where the selectors had to shake options to cover his role. Young people such as Vishen Halambage and Dushan Hemantha had opportunities in his absence, but management always wanted Hasaranga in their Asia Cup and T20 World Cup plans.
Compared to the team that played against Bangladesh earlier this year, the line -up of Asia Cup has some important changes. In the bowling department, Dushmantha Chameera leads the pace attack, supported by Matheesha Pathirana, Nuwan Thushara and Binura Fernando, while the spin -unit consists of Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana and Dunith Wellalage.
Sri Lanka is placed in group B next to Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Hong Kong. They start their campaign against Bangladesh on September 13 in Abu Dhabi, followed by a collision against Afghanistan on September 16 in Dubai, before they close the group phase against Hong Kong on September 18 in Abu Dhabi. Prior to the tournament, the team was set up to lock Hoorns with Zimbabwe for a Tour White-Ball.
