Volkswagen made his own Gymkhana video. It rules

Volkswagen may embrace a new battery -electric era, but the company has not forgotten its compact car foots. For a large part of its history, the Golf was the most important vehicle of the brand, which followed the success of the beetle before.

The remarkable hatchback came out in 1974 and eventually reached the American coasts when the rabbit – next to his hot GTI performance and sister – and the rest is history. In the meantime we have missed another important hatchback that Volkswagen launched shortly after the Golf. And it just had a 50th birthday.

VW’s Polo has now closed half a century under the Golf as the brand’s sub -compact offer. While we were entertained by the Scirocco, Jetta and the continued production of the beetle, it remains a prominent table in the European stable.

To celebrate five decades of continuous production, Volkswagen did something very special to celebrate; The company made its own version of the iconic Gymkhana van Ken Block.

The official YouTube channel of the company has released a new video this month, with a handful of polos in the production facility in Kariega, South Africa. It is a stars-littered affair while the world rally champion Johan Kristoffersson stood a Polo WRX with the iconic Harlequin livrei from Volkswagen.

He is accompanied by a colleague Polo R WRC and various other polosodels while commemorating 50 years of the car’s existence. VW’s video channels Some of the largest Gymkhana videos ever produced – pioneered by the late, Great Ken Block.

In real gymkhana -fashion, a Red Bull plane flies over the cluster of Polo’s, crossed with its own Livrei, before Kristoffersson accompanied his rally car due to the tight dimensions of the indoor factory where the Polo is produced.

There we see the Polo GTI appear on the production floor, where Kristoffersson chooses to change cars. He leads the last back to a couple of parked rally-specific polos to the latest ID. Polo is wearing camo. He ends with a flowering through a handbell.

The ID.Polo is wearing an updated version of VW’s Harlequin Livery, make sure they do not reveal too many details prior to the release. It is planned for a debut from 2026 and represents a new era of Polo, but also compact electric transport.
