It’s Sunday and time to wrap up our penultimate week on Koh Lanta for this round. It was a good one, but the last few hours were certainly filled with musings and thoughts about the turmoil in the Middle East. If you don’t mention them, you’re burying your head in the sand. We are supposed to make a stopover in Dubai next Sunday on the way home to Sweden, but we will see how it turns out. However, before we get ahead of events, it’s time to look back on our fifth week here on Koh Lanta. Get involved!
Visit to Sweden, stomach ache and luxury hotel (Thaimout 2026, v. 5)
At the beginning of the week, Nelly and I had Sweden visiting the island. My sister and her husband are visiting here. They take very good care of themselves, but of course we also want to take the opportunity to show what we really do here on the island…
…like collecting sunsets for example!

And eat delicious dinners in the evening…

…here at Lazy Days.

Not to mention all the weird things we collect during visits to 7/11. I don’t know if it was that muffin specifically or something else that caused some of us to get quite the Thai belly and thus had to slow down in the middle of the week.

This time it worked and I continued to fill my days with work and walks on the beach. We also received a nice visit from “our” little gecko who occasionally beeps his strange gecko.

The energy depots filled! Order at least one coconut every day – a better drink is hard to find on this earth.

I sleep a little longer every morning (don’t know if that’s good or bad?), but as soon as I get out at eight o’clock it’s So Worth it Dropping by early in the morning when everything is still quiet feels exactly like winning the top prize in February’s lottery.

And suddenly it was Friday and time to send the bat to Saladan!

You get certain favorites between the food stalls, you understand that.

Nella is now starting to be recognized in stores. Maybe she’s been shopping with this girl a few times by now.

My brother-in-law ended the evening by ordering a grilled fish from one of the food stalls. If this particular little crab was the reason he lost a day in the world of stomach sickness fog, we’ll never know…

…but before that they managed to take a ride on a Sunrise Gondola in the Mangrove Swamp. Will recommend it to anyone who visits from now on!

Much in the same vein, it was finally time for me and Nelly to fulfill another of my old Lanta dreams! We dusted the sand off our toes and each packed a small bag to…

…check in at Pimalai Resort & Spa. Spending the night in the most luxurious hotel in Lanta is not cheap, but I have no problem spending my savings on nice hotels. Loves collecting travel-related experiences, from hotel stays to sunsets and Swedish national parks! We paid approximately 3600 SEK for one night including transfer and breakfast. During previous stays here on the island I haven’t been able to justify the high price tag for the whole family, but now that it’s “just” me and Nellan, we can actually take the opportunity to party a little extra.

We were given a royal welcome with garlands of flowers, ice-cold lemongrass and cold towels.

The luxury continued in the room…

…with fresh coconuts according to my drink preferences.

During our day on site we had no immediate ambitions other than swimming in the pool, relaxing and admiring the sunset on the beach below the hotel (Kantiang Beach).

In the evening we had reserved a table in one of the resort’s three restaurants. The food was pretty good, but not the best I’ve eaten in my life.

The breakfast with accompanying view, on the other hand, gets a 10/10. I’m still a little full after our huge meal this morning.

It was a great stay in every respect, and it was extra fun to share it with Nelly of course! Of course there will be a separate hotel review about Pimalai here on the blog in the future, because I don’t feel ready to leave that experience behind me yet.

Now the last week on Koh Lanta begins for this time. Schoolwork, barefoot walks, test diving (!), good food at Yang, yoga and more sunsets are some of the things on the agenda if all goes according to plan. Now I return to the news reporting. It certainly feels like the whole world is balancing on one terribly thin wire now!?
